MCTS candidates must pass one exam that focuses on the following:

  • Deploying a core hosting infrastructure
  • Deploying and configuring Internet Information Server (IIS)
  • Deploying hosted services
  • Designing and configuring automated provisioning
  • Administering, managing, and optimizing hosted solutions
  • Troubleshooting a hosted environment

  • Exam 70-501: TS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Hosted Environments, Configuring and Managing
Audience Profile

This exam is intended for IT Professionals who have 2 or more years of experience in managing a Microsoft windows-based network and at least 12-18 months hosting experience.
It is recommended that the candidate have the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Windows Server 2003 credential or equivalent knowledge.

It is also recommended that the candidate possess knowledge equivalent to that taught in Course 2576: Implementing and Administering Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0.
In addition, familiarity with operational best practices such as those described in the Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is also recommended.
